Yesteryear memories
Wednesday, 28 January 2009
Another snaps from yesteryear to evoke memories. This time centre class act pairing of Scott & Fisher in their heyday. The caption may be a bit tongue in cheek - but they could well have done so!
The older members will no doubt remember 'Simmy' standing midfield playing 'air guitar' as he waited for the ball to be passed to him. He'd then bamboozle the opposition (and sometimes his own teamates) with some crafty, silky skills often resulting in a score - then back to his imaginary guitar in celebration.
Matt of course was never outdone by his centre partner and held all the aces in his armoury of attacking options (sometimes 5 or 6 of them at any one time) - perhaps thats why you should never play poker against him.
Their defensive apptitude was no less impressive often making the crucial hits again and again during a match.
Having played youth rugby together at Ardencaple the almost telepathic pairing were a joy to watch during their senior team appearances in the bottle green shirts of the Burgh 1stXV of yesteryear
